The first golf day...

Held at West Hove golf club in the September, with 179 golfers playing on the day, 45 teams playing either morning or afternoon. 1 player cried off that morning because of work commitments. The good news was we raised £28,000 that day, the bad news was Russ Davis by then terminal, died that December. In 2020, we lost Trevor Still at the start of Covid lockdown, so now we are down to two.

Our Story

It all started in early 2012, 4 old friends, who had known each other for nearly 40 years, Russ Davis, Barry Morris, Trevor Still and Phil Quinlan (me!), all had various cancers in the previous few years. We got together and decided we would all like to give back something to cancer research / charities, for all the great help we had received, so C4C was formulated.

Our Vision

Over the years, we have taken C4C to various golf clubs in Sussex, from Cowdray Park, Ham Manor in the West, the Dyke and Mid Sussex in south & central Sussex, Mannings Heath, Ifield in the north.

Venues...

Guest speakers have been a feature of the golf days, with Gary Richardson (radio) and Peter Brackley (TV), Liam Brady (Arsenal & Juventus), Tony Cascarino (Chelsea & Celtic), Gordon Smith (Brighton & Rangers).

Guest Speakers...

This year, we are again at West Hove Golf Club, with guest speaker Nobby Horton, (Brighton & Manchester City manager). Nobby had Prostate cancer himself last year, had chemotherapy and happy to say, he is in recovery. He is coming down with his wife for the weekend, paying all his own expenses, to help raise more money for Prostate cancer.

This Year...

So, over the last 12 years, we have already given to Sussex based Cancer charities, nearly £300,000, this year, we have added a C4C/ Prostate Walk from West Hove Golf Club to Saltdean and back. Between our annual golf day and the walk, we are hoping to raise £100,000, a record amount, taking our running total to nearly £400,000. I hope you will join us in our events this year.

Looking Forward...
